6月5日 100 Things About MeThis took me roughly a week to do and edit. As if anyone would care! - I’m a southpaw,
- I am Malaysian.
- I was born on the year of the Ox.
- I was born 2029 years and a day after the Ides of March.
- When my parents knew I was going to be a girl, they wanted to name me “Grace”. But a cousin born before me took that name instead. I am so thankful she did because I wouldn’t have liked that name (it suits her though!).
- I originally wanted to be either an architect or an interior designer. However, the business pull was too strong.
- I’m doing a double major in Banking and Finance AND Marketing. Lots of fun, but also lots of blood. =P
- I’ve been reading business and financial magazines/books from a very young age.
- I was in both public speaking and debate team back in high school.
- I received a one year scholarship from my college that saves my parents almost RM15,000 in fees.
- I inherited my father’s (and also my maternal grandfather’s) Type A personality and to a certain degree, their temper.
- I’m an ENTJ.
- I’m trying to change my Type A and ENTJ personality because I’m a first hand witness of the downfall and sufferings of people with these personalities.
- I was raised a Catholic but I didn’t care a hoot about the rituals. I’ve only been to one “real” confession, and that was before being counted as eligible to receive the Holy Communion. I’m not sure if I can call myself religious but I do have faith in my God. I’m not likely to revert from Catholicism though cos I don’t really feel anything for any other church.
- 90% of the people in my family, immediate and extended, still call me Baby. Even cousins younger than me. It just stuck.
- I love the Lord of the Rings film but I dislike the book so much...and that’s saying something when I’m the kind of person who’d take a book like a duck to a pond.
- My fingerprints never match because my fingers are always blistering. Another thing I inherited from my grandfather. My cousin Aaron has the same problem, although it’s not as bad as mine (he still have fingerprints).
- My first pet was a stray cat. We named her Miao. Very original. *grin*
- I only got a dog when I turned 10. No, her name is not Woof. It’s Tess.
- My family moved three times before returning to our hometown when I was 10.
- I’m very good at reading maps. However I’m rubbish at remembering directions.
- I have always been attracted to older men.
- I always have this weird wanting to live in a big log house in a ranch/farm. When I’m rich enough and in no need of work, perhaps I will. (It also helps finally dating someone who has the same dreams. He was raised in a farm before having to come to the mad city. Yeah!)
- I’m hopeless with papers and usually lose papers as soon as I get them.
- I like Celtic music.
- My secret life includes a love for cooking, baking, crocheting, interior decorating and scrapbooking (yeap, all those girly, homely stuffs!).
- I cannot draw, but I’m good with crafts.
- I am an expert in short-cut cooking and making it look as if I have spent 3 hours on it.
- However, I like cooking from scratch whenever I have the time to.
- I cannot read one book in one time. I usually read 2-3 simultaneously.
- I’m a goal setter. Making list and crossing them off as I achieve them is a satisfaction. This is why you see a lot of progress list in this Space. =P
- I grind my teeth in my sleep since I was 10. Doctor says? Manifestation of stress. There.
- I get tonsillitis every year since I was 8. I was supposed to have it removed then but since it has never bothered me that much, I never cared about it.
- I have apiphobia -- fear of bees.
- I have never dyed my hair--it has stayed black all my life as a way of showing my pride of my Asian roots.
- Among my friends are people whose family members have been behind bars for murder.
- If I was a part time counselor/psychologist, I would have been rich by now.
- I have never celebrated a Valentine’s Day. I once broke up 2 days before Valentine’s Day.
- I can never cut my toenails properly. Turns out it may be genetics because my cousin can’t too. *grin*
- I like colors.
- My grandfather passed away right before my eyes.
- I am one of the lucky few who would graduate from Uni without a single debt and start on a clean slate.
- I like learning new things. Studying however, is a different thing altogether.
- 9 has always been my favourite and by-default number. No idea why.
- I’m a salmon lover.
- I’m an ancient history buff.
- I like reading law novels.
- I’m a firm believer that competing with men does not entail sacrificing your femininity, burning your bras or throwing insults at men. There is always more respect from men when you are feminine AND strong at the same time.
- I don’t drink coffee
- I don’t smoke
- I don’t drink. Well, not anymore. I never liked it anyway.
- People don’t believe the previous three I just mentioned.
- I am addicted to tomato sauce.
- I am abstaining from meat for 2007.
- I tend to forget my English when I’m extremely angry or when I’m sleepy.
- I can’t stand horror or gory movies.
- I am really short sighted. Vanity made me wear contacts.
- I cannot sleep with pajamas. I’m a nightdress/sleeping gown/lingerie person. I like to have some space.
- I used to like eating crabs when I was a little kid but as I get older I suddenly cannot tolerate crab...I don’t know what happened!!
- I don’t like prawns or shrimps. Yeech.
- I love black and white pictures.
- I worked in Insurance for about 3 months after Diploma and before I continued studying.
- People mistook me for an emo-hatter. Actually, I’m very helpful to emos. As in, I will gladly help them cut themselves. That obviously makes me kind.
- I can tolerate scene however. They’re like, the happy emos!
- I’m very short...only somewhere around 154cm. My brother is taller than me. Two of my cousins who are way younger than my brother and I are also...taller than me. Crikey.
- I have always been very good and careful with money, and with finding money. =P
- I already have a business plan for my own business.
- Even so, I feel I should work for other people for a minimum of 5 years before striking out on my own. I reasoned that way it will keep me levelheaded when I do get successful, and I don’t become a bighead as I will remember I too was once an employee (and remember the sufferings that comes with it!). Also in that way I will learn the ropes of the business world because textbook and classrooms teach you nothing that experience can teach.
- When I was younger, I liked to do most household chores EXCEPT vacuuming, I preferred sweeping. I usually enslaved my brother to do the vacuuming. =P
- I’m not a shopaholic but I do like shopping for groceries. The only thing I don’t love is paying for it in the end.
- I sleep very, very still.
- I’ve eaten snake. (My brother too) We didn’t know it was snake until we have eaten it. Didn’t taste that special.
- I thought my chicken pox was so cool, especially towards the end of it. It was strange to see my body breaks into poxes and then when it heals it crusted up and I could peel it off painlessly. I use to line up the peeled pox on a piece of tissue. Hahaha.
- I still have one particular deep chicken pox mark above my right eyebrow.
- When I was 9, I unknowingly stepped on a rusty nail and walked around for a good half an hour before thinking that the dull sensation on my right leg was odd. I took one look at it, saw that the nail was 98% lodged in my foot, was horrified and immediately wailed my head off. Honestly speaking, I was crying more out of shocked and panic then out of pain. There was no pain, actually, which was why I could walk around with it inside there for some time. Two cousins were living with us then and tried to pacify me but both of them were panicked out of their wit. My mother came home immediately, tried to pull it out of me but I was screaming murder. We went to the doc to take it out and I was given 7 shots. I have never screamed and wailed so hard in my entire life. Probably will never again until I give birth. Both cousins distinctively remember that incident til today.
- I used to collect stamps when I was younger. Father Matthew, a Dutch priest started me on his collection of Netherlands stamps from letters he got from home. It wasn’t until later that I found out some of the stamps I had were rare pieces!!
- I’m crazy for mushrooms.
- I knew how to read even before I first stepped into school. Thanks Mum.
- I have trouble going to sleep, and staying asleep. I have never consulted a doctor about it, and probably never will because I don’t want to know if I do have insomnia.
- I’m not a picky eater. I’ve been known to survive with only plain rice and cans of tuna. To me, there are more important things than eating so there is no use agonizing too much about it. My only rule is that I don’t eat meat. (But I’m dying from lack of Sarawak food)
- So there is really no use asking me what I would like to eat. Better to ask me what I don’t like or would not eat because I’d gobble up anything! If there’s meat in it, I set it aside. No problem!
- I’m not a picky guest at all too. I can sleep on the floor without many qualms as long as I am kept warm. I don’t care if I have pillows, sheets, bolster etc. As long as it’s warm!
- I like watching cooking shows.
- Both my parents still haven’t figured me out. My brother knows me I think but he is on my side and he is obviously practicing his diplomacy skills. Hahaha.
- I cannot stand the sight of poverty. People have told me to stop tipping beggars an exorbitant amount because there’s an illegal scheme behind it. Nowadays I just avoid places where I see this people.
- I only buy CD when I have heard the illegal/bootlegged copy first. If I really like it, I feel I owe it to the artist to buy the original one. If it’s crappy, then it’s their loss for making such lousy music and having me download it for free.
- I never had cavities.
- I am addicted to sour things. If it’s sour, hand it over to me. I can eat lime raw.
- Although I’m very careful about eating a whole pack of prunes in one go after a particular erm...episode. =P
- I hated Physic to the core of my bones back in high school. I couldn’t figure it out and I didn’t effing care. If it wasn’t for taking Engineering Technology as well, I would have flunked it badly.
- But right after finishing high school, I was reading Stephen Hawking.
- I have low tolerance of cold. Even in sweltering hot Malaysia I don’t sleep at night with fan/aircond and I use blanket everyday.
- I like planning my assignments ahead so that I can do it bit by bit and not stress about it near deadline. (trying hard to beat my Type A personality)
- I have low tolerance of slow and lazy people.
- I also have low tolerance on people who complain and whine too much. If it bothers you, do something about it and quit complaining.
- I’m an optimist. My motto is usually “Everything happen for a reason!”
- I’m ticklish.
- I simply love beautiful lingerie.
- I like list. (If it is not evident already)
- Therefore the next list that will come up is 100 things to do before I die.
